Cuisine.
Over the last few years I've become more and more enamored by cooking, baking and the like. I've spent the last year or so experimenting with bread and that's yielded some great, and not so great results. Whether it's a main course, a delectable side dish or a rustic tuscan loaf - the enjoyment for me lies in the doing of the thing.
A little while back we decided to have a meal based on one of our family's favorite movies, Ratatouille. I don't know if it was the loveable character Remy or Linguini's memorable and resounding battle cry of "Let's Do This Thing!" that endeared this film to us but it's one of our favorites.
We went with a no frills preparation of this traditional dish and it was a hit. Paired with some french bread and white grape juice, we basked in the deliciousness of fresh ingredients and a meal not soon forgotten.

CHICKENS!
A couple months ago we took the plunge and entered the world of urban farming. We did a bit of a garden last year so mixing in some free range poultry didn't seem much of a stretch. In all honesty, we basically got chickens since we told Valencia she couldn't have a monkey. I think we got the better end of the deal on that one but we'll see what the future holds.
In the space of a few weeks these things went from tiny little squeaky puff balls to fully fledged feathered forces of nature. It was quite the transformation. Needless to say there's been some retrofitting of the backyard to accommodate these guys and it's been a blast watching the kids interact with our farm fresh friends.

Finally.
At the risk of successive blog posts reading "School's In" and "School's Out" I'm taking the opportunity to post at least a little more regularly. So anyone who may or may not still be following the Burgess family via this blog keep an eye out over the next few days. I can't say for sure what we'll pop on here but I can say it may range anywhere from chickens to Josh Groban.
